EotA

EotANOTE: This map will ONLY WORK on older versions of Warcraft III ROC and TFT (must be older than v1.24). It will NOT WORK on the latest version. I am currently looking for a copy of EOTA that's been modified to work with the latest version.

EotA: Eve of the Apocalypse: Twilight

EotA is similar to Dota in many ways, except on a larger scale. Like Dota, there are 2 teams with up to 5 players each. Creeps spawn at regular intervals. You're able to buy items for your heroes. However, it goes far beyond that...

The game starts with a small introduction with a bit of a storyline behind it. The host then chooses one of 3 maps, and the game begins. You choose a hero, and then head out to start fighting your way towards the opposing base. The main goal of the game is to return an "artifact" to your main base. However, destroying the enemy base is another way to win.

There are many ways to spend your money in EotA. You can buy items for your hero, and upgrade them at your altar. You can buy extra waves of special creeps (a few different types to choose from). You can upgrade the attack/defense/etc of creeps as well. When you kill heroes, you receive crystals which can be used to upgrade your own hero. You're also able to buy workers that can build and repair buildings. Teleporting to certain areas becomes rather important. Town halls (of which you'll have a few) can be upgraded to provide extra health and mana regeneration when you're in their vicinity. The possibilities are numerous, and there's a vast amount of things that can be done in this game.

The many options allow for many different playstyles, and much more strategy than many other games.

Most people will prefer the simplicity of DotA. However, if you're looking for a DotA-alternative, or something a little more complex, this game could be exactly what you're looking for.
